Medical and Nursing Directors network, July 2024

The next meeting of the Medical and Nursing Directors network will take place virtually on Thursday 11 July between 12:30 - 15:00.
This event is set to include the following engaging sessions:
- A strategic policy update from Sir Julian Hartley, chief executive at NHS Providers covering issues and developments and analysis on what these may mean for the provider sector, followed by an opportunity for Q&A.
- Jane Murkin, deputy director safety & improvement – nursing at NHS England will lead a session on managing acute deterioration at board level and adopting an integrated systems approach to managing acute deterioration in local populations.
- An opportunity to hear from Karen Hayllar, senior data lead, Making Data Count, NHS England, this session will focus on how boards can make better use of their data to target improvement efforts; exploring the value of looking at data over time in order to understand early warning signs in trusts. There will be an opportunity for Q&A.
The meeting will be chaired by:
- Dr Vivek Patil, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust
- Diane Sarkar, Chief Nursing Officer, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust
