This briefing summarises the NHS England (NHSE) board meeting held on 1 December 2022.

The chief executive updated the board on the impact of the Autumn Statement announcement on NHSE objectives and highlighted NHSE’s priority in supporting the NHS as effectively as possible to prepare and plan for industrial action due to take place this winter.

The operational performance update detailed the ongoing Covid-19 response, elective care bounce back and mental health pressures.

There were also updates on financial performance, maternity and neonatal care services, early diagnosis on cancer and the integration of NHS England, Health Education England and NHS Digital.
