This briefing summarises the NHS England (NHSE) board meeting held on 30 March 2023.

The chief executive updated the board on the affect of industrial action and the work being done in preparation for future action, a timeline of when the maternity and neonatal and Hewitt review will be published and reflections on workforce challenges including comments on the staff and social attitudes survey. 

The operational performance update placed a continued focus on urgent care and elective recovery as well as the financial update. This was followed by details on NHS innovation and a detailed overview of the annual emergency preparedness, resilience and response assurance report.
