The Isle of Wight's pilot of the new track and trace app
05 May 2020
Chris Hopson, NHS Providers chief executive, said:
"We welcome the trial of this app on the Isle of Wight as the first part of a potential wider 'test, track and trace' approach to support the easing of lockdown.
"We are probably only weeks away from having to adopt that wider 'test, track and trace' approach across the country as a whole.
"So it's vital that any lessons learnt from the pilot are shared and acted upon quickly.
"Local trust and wider NHS leaders are still saying they have no real visibility on how this whole approach, and the wider testing strategy, will work going forward. This includes understanding what role they will be expected to play.
"If we are to start easing lockdown this month, we need much greater clarity on all these issues now so the NHS can start preparing properly".
