Responding to the publication of data on COVID-19 hospital activity by NHS England and NHS Improvement, the director of policy and strategy at NHS Providers, Miriam Deakin, said:

“We welcome the publication of these figures which are an important indication of pressures faced by trusts as a result of COVID-19.

“People should be able to see the data influencing key decisions in response to the pandemic, including local restrictions.

“Trusts are collating this information to ensure they are data driven and transparent in what they do.

“It is good to see the data being broken down by region to help build a fuller picture of what is happening, and information on admissions from care homes and the community will help us see how pressures are developing outside hospitals.”
