Course overview

This course is delivered by NHS Providers and commissioned by the Disabled NHS Directors Network (DNDN).

DNDN is providing this course as part of its work to increase the representation of people with disabilities at every level in the NHS. It is for those individuals who identify as having a disability and would like to know more about mentoring.

This half-day, online course will provide those who identify as having a disability with an opportunity to develop skills in mentoring and reflect on the valuable perspectives those with the lived experience of disabilities can bring to mentoring relationships.

The course will cover:

• • An introduction to mentoring and its benefits
  • The role of a mentor including skills, behaviours, and practical techniques
  • Managing expectations including frequency of meetings and creating the right environment
  • An opportunity to put key messages into practice through exercises and self-reflection
  • By the end of the course, you will have had a chance to explore the role and benefits of mentoring and how this aligns with your personal goals and career aspirations.

Course format 

This course is a half day event. The course will be delivered on Zoom. Estimated timings are: 

12.30pm - 4.00pm
