Course overview

This course is delivered by NHS Providers and commissioned by the Disabled NHS Directors Network (DNDN).

DNDN is providing this course as part of its work to increase the representation of people with disabilities at every level in the NHS. It is for those individuals who identify as having a disability and are considering a senior leadership role in the NHS.

This one-day, online course will provide those who identify as having a disability with an opportunity to explore the role of senior leaders in the NHS and how it aligns with their own career aspirations. Whether you know that an NHS senior leadership role is your next career goal, or if you want to understand more about the role to help when considering future career aspirations, the course aims to provide space to explore the NHS senior leadership role and the valuable perspectives those with the lived experience of disabilities can bring to leadership positions.

The course will cover:

• • The roles and responsibilities of NHS senior leaders and executive directors
  • The roles and responsibilities of a senior leadership team and a unitary board
  • How to prepare for the application and interview process to build the skills and confidence to apply for these types of roles
  • Explore building your personal brand and the impact that you can bring to leadership positions
  • The opportunity to share experiences through a panel discussion with experienced senior leaders in the NHS
  • By the end of the course, you will have had a chance to explore the senior leadership role in the NHS and how this aligns with your personal career aspirations. 

Course format 

This course is a full day event running in two sections across one day. The course will be delivered on Zoom. Estimated timings are: 

Section one: 9.30am - 12.45pm 

Section two: 1.45pm - 4.00pm
