On the day briefing: Ambulance Response Programme
Today the Department of Health have accepted the recommendation from NHS England to implement new ambulance response standards.
In our On the Day Briefing, we summarise the proposed changes that include:
- Amending Dispatch on Disposition
- Introducing new target response standards
- Amending "stop the clock" definitions
- Introducing condition-specific measures.
Responding to the announcement of the rollout of the Ambulance Response Programme, the director of development and operations at NHS Providers, Ben Clacy, said:
"These new standards will allow ambulance services to save more lives. They have been extensively trialled on the front line, and shown to improve the way ambulances are deployed, providing an even faster response for those in greatest need, and fewer delays for other patients."
