Remarkable achievement as 50 million COVID-19 vaccinations given across the UK
03 May 2021
- The latest figures from the government's vaccination dashboard (as of 3 May) shows that a total of 50,089,549 people in the UK have received their first COVID-19 jab.
- The number of people in the UK that have received their second jab stands at 15,500,949.
Responding to the latest achievements in the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the deputy chief executive of NHS Providers Saffron Cordery said:
"It's a remarkable achievement that more than 50 million COVID-19 vaccinations have now been given across the UK.
"Frontline NHS staff and volunteers have done a tremendous job over the past five months, administering nearly 35 million first jabs and over 15 million second doses.
"We owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone involved in the planning and delivery of this huge and complex programme.
"But while there is much to celebrate with the success of the vaccination programme, we still have a long way to go before we reach our next big milestone of offering all adults their first jab by the end of July.
"We'd encourage everyone to have their COVID-19 vaccine when they are offered one and to carry on following the rules on social contact. This will help keep COVID-19 infection rates under control and ensure this current lockdown is our last."
