NHS Providers responds to DHSC announcement of 40 new community diagnostic centres
01 October 2021
Responding to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) announcement of 40 new community diagnostic centres set to open across England, the deputy chief executive of NHS Providers Saffron Cordery, said:
"Early diagnosis through improved access to tests is a real priority in ensuring timely treatment and the best possible outcomes for patients.
"Trusts are making real progress in delivering more tests and starting treatment for cancer, but these centres will be a great additional resource, offering convenience for patients and making and helping the NHS to bear down on backlogs.
"It is vital though that we have a sustainable staffing model for these hubs, as well as any new service provision in the future, given critical constraints on the existing NHS workforce."
