Cities and Local Government Devolution Bill - Commons second reading

NHS Providers supports the principles of devolution within the Bill and the potential it affords for strategic, local leadership of public service provision. Devolution offers the opportunity to increase community engagement in developing local services, ensure strategic alignment and investment, improve quality of care and integration between health and social care, and maintain focus on long-term sustainability.

NHS Providers briefing for the Commons second reading of the Devolution Bill sets out NHS Providers views and concerns on Bill including ensuring that protection for national standards and patient care are enshrined within the Bill, along with assurance that the Department of Health and NHS England will be involved in devolution deals which incorporate health and care services and that NHS funding under devolved arrangements will be protected.
