The Mid and South Essex Community Collaborative (MSECC) was set up in 2020, bringing together community providers in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) to deliver consistent and high-quality community health and care services for residents across the system.
Two key drivers for the formation of the provider collaborative were the merger of three local acute trusts into one, which led to a request for consistent discharge practices across the system. Commissioners were also encouraging the providers – who already had trusting relationships – to form a collaborative and reduce health inequalities and unwarranted variation across the patch.
Tissue viability services
Tissue viability services in mid and south Essex are provided by the three organisations that make up the collaborative:
- Provide Community Interest Company (Provide CIC) in mid Essex,
- Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) in south east Essex,
- North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) in Basildon and Brentwood and Thurrock.
Together, they form the MSECC Tissue Viability Team which was successful in its application to become one of six accelerator sites in England for the National Wound Care Strategy Programme for the standardisation of leg ulcer care.
