Stay informed, connected and supported
Leading in the NHS has never been more challenging. We help you take a step back, reflect, and build the knowledge and connections you need to lead effectively - through expert development programmes, member networks, and peer support.
Whether online or in person, you can access conferences, webinars, learning forums, and tailored sessions for boards and senior teams. Our practical resources including how-to guides and case studies as well as podcasts and videos, are designed to support your learning every step of the way.
We’re always evolving what we offer, so you get the right support when you need it most.
Leadership development
Our training and events are designed to help NHS leaders step back, learn from current practice both within the sector and beyond, and take away practical insights.
Our membership offer includes a wide range of practical support, peer learning and activities focused on priority topics for board and aspiring board members.
Some of what we do can be delivered as in-house training, with bespoke options built specifically around your training requirements. We support your board and senior leadership team's strategic objectives and development needs.
Some of our programmes are included in the membership fee while others are paid for as an addition, at a discounted rate for members.
Networks
We offer 12 member-only networks supporting all NHS board level roles.
Each network meets several times a year and provides a great opportunity for you to keep up to date with the latest developments in health policy, exchange ideas with peers and hear from key external experts and system leaders in a safe, reflective environment.
These networks are free to attend as a core part of our offer for provider boards, helping you connect with peers and keep up-to-date with sector changes.
Conferences and roundtables
Each year, we host a number of market-leading conferences including our flagship Annual Conference and Exhibition, which brings together trust chairs and chief executives and other senior leaders in the NHS.
Our members-only In conversation with... roundtables and in person dinners give individuals an opportunity to engage with the most senior leaders in the NHS and beyond.
Our member-exclusive policy roundtables give you the opportunity to speak directly to key stakeholders on hot topics impacting the health and care sector.
Being a member of NHS Providers allows for invaluable networking, access to key resources, and the ability to stay informed on best practices and national priorities. This is crucial both for personal development and for supporting our organisation's strategic goals.
Our influence and voice
We help you influence national policy and shape the future of the NHS. In today’s rapidly changing and financially pressured environment, it’s more important than ever that your voice is at the centre of decisions that affect your work and patients.
By working closely with government, parliament, and regulators, we ensure the views and experiences of NHS providers are heard where it matters most. Together with members, we develop practical policy solutions that reflect real frontline challenges.
We’re politically neutral and work with all major parties - attending conferences, engaging in key debates, and submitting evidence to parliamentary committees. We also provide trusted data and insights to support your priorities in national discussions.
Our regular meetings with ministers, officials, and shadow health teams mean you’re part of the conversation at every level, helping to influence future policy and improve care.
Our influencing priorities
Our commitment to race equality and inclusive leadership across the NHS underpins and informs our work across each area. Our five main influencing priorities are:
- Play a leading role in the conversation on reform, improvement and transformation of the health service, centred around patient needs.
- Advocate for investment in robust workforce planning and development as essential to providing safe, high-quality care.
- Make the case for better access to capital funding, the revenue funding needed to enhance productivity, and the importance of sustained whole system investment.
- Provide the frontline view on ongoing operational pressures, care backlogs and the impact of health inequalities.
- Help shape the landscape to enable trusts in systems and their partners to work collaboratively and deliver joined-up care for the communities they serve.
Parliamentary debates and legislation
Health and care is regularly debated in parliament. MPs and peers raise local and national issues and explore both broad policy issues and specific health and care needs.
We actively influence legislation relating to health and social care during its passage through both houses, and through our comprehensive briefings we are able to influence the final provisions in an Act, persuading parliamentarians and government of the merits of proposed amendments and securing changes that reflect the interests of trusts and foundation trusts.
Select committees
Select committees examine government spending, policies and administration, and develop parliamentary debate. They hold a number of inquiries each year, and we submit evidence to help inform these.
All-party parliamentary groups
All-party parliamentary groups (APPGs) are informal cross-party groups that cover a wide range of issues. We regularly submit written evidence to relevant inquiries and give oral evidence to highlight issues facing our members and the wider health and care sector.
Membership types
We offer three types of membership; in addition to our provider members, systems can join us through our ICB associate membership and other limited healthcare bodies can join as associate members.
