Overview

NHS Providers, in partnership with NHS England, is hosting a roundtable discussion on the ongoing consultation for the Advanced Foundation Trust Programme: Guide for Applicants.

This session will provide an overview of the consultation and offer members the opportunity to share feedback directly with NHS England’s System Architecture Team, who are leading delivery of the programme.

What we'll cover

The 10 Year Health Plan aims to reinvigorate the rules-based foundation trust model, giving power back to frontline NHS leaders and re-empowering provider boards. Advanced foundation trusts will become the new marker of excellence for providers that:

  • Drive delivery of the three shifts
  • Reduce waiting lists
  • Work with partners to improve population health

Both NHS trusts and foundation trusts will be eligible to apply for advanced foundation trust status. Successful applicants will gain greater autonomy and financial freedoms.

This roundtable is your chance to:

  • Hear from Miranda Carter, Director of System Architecture at NHS England
  • Understand the proposed eligibility criteria and assessment process
  • Share your views on how advanced foundation trust freedoms can be implemented
