Daniel Elkeles visits Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust to see their impressive Community Diagnostic Centre.

Our chief executive Daniel Elkeles recently visited Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

"Yes, I really did visit a retail park in Wakefield to go and see Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust's Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

"Mid Yorkshire trust operates from three main acute sites in Wakefield, Pontefract and Dewsbury and provides community services to a population of half a million people.

"The CDC has been open for 18 months and was previously a carpet showroom. A huge refurbishment required to enable it to house MRI, CT and DEXA scanners, amongst many other modalities. It feels far away from a traditional NHS diagnostic service, offering a range of benefits to patients including:

🔵 Free parking right outside the building.
🔵 Close proximity to the town centre with a bright and vibrant colour scheme.
🔵 Seven days a week operation for some services.

"The increase in capacity that the centre provides is enabling the trust to make consistent and steady progress in improving their achievement of the planned care constitutional standards - and the centre is contributing to the rejuvenation of the local area. The footfall is so high and over an extended period of the day that other shops in the retail park have extended their opening hours to cope with the increased number of shoppers!

"Thank you to Brent, Chris and Louise for showing me a great service."
