Community health services waiting lists (June 2025)
- The total community services reported waiting list in England rose to a record high 1.18 million in June 2025, up by 10% on last year.
- The number of adult pathways on the community waiting list increased in the latest month to 852,000, rising by 9% compared to a year ago.
- Pathways related to children and young people (CYP) increased to 325,900, up by 15% compared to last year.
- Waits of over 52 weeks in CYP’s community services have risen every month since February 2023. There are now 77,410 CYP waiting for 52 weeks or more - the highest number on record. 20,990 CYP have been waiting for more than two years (104 weeks).
- 11,680 adults have been waiting for more than 52 weeks for treatment, up by 2% since last year.
- Of all the CYP waiting for community health services, 23.8% have waited for over 52 weeks. In comparison, only 1.4% of adults have been on the waiting list over 52 weeks.
Community services statistics (May 2025)
- In May 2025, there were 1.65 million referrals received, lower than last year. Of these, 15% of referrals related to children and young people, 29% of referrals related to adults aged 19 to 64, and 57% of referrals related to adults aged 65 years and over.
- A total of 8.5 million care contacts were reported across all submitters in May 2025, 5.5% lower compared to the same period last year. Of these, 17% related to children and young people aged 0 to 18, 22% related to adults aged 19 to 64 and 61% related to adults aged 65 and over.
