On the day briefing: Speak Up Review of ambulance trusts

On 23 February 2023 the National Guardian’s Office published a report into the implementation of the Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Guardian role in ambulance trusts.

The National Guardian’s Office supports the network of FTSU Guardians in England and monitors both the implementation of the role and the development of a speaking up culture across NHS organisations.

This report into freedom to speak up in ambulance trusts finds that there are some significant cultural issues which act as a barrier to speaking up, as well as practical issues with the implementation of the role within ambulance trusts. This briefing summarises the findings of the report and shares NHS Providers view.
