A new era of digital leadership

This introductory guide to digital leadership is designed to help boards build on the momentum made during the Covid-19 pandemic and support you to lead your organisation into the next stage of digitisation.

It has been written for all board members and outlines how digital impacts the strategic and operational concerns for both executives and non-executives. We explain the issues and trade-offs that trust leaders should be considering, provide examples of good practice – from the NHS and beyond – of how other organisations have addressed them, and set out some of the difficult questions that boards will need to address.

A new era of digital leadership has been jointly prepared by NHS Providers and Public Digital as part of our Digital Boards programme, funded by Health Education England.
