On the day briefing: government’s announcement on capital and pensions


The government has today announced an extra £1.8bn for the NHS. This includes £850m new funding for 20 hospitals to upgrade outdated facilities and equipment, with the remaining money used to increase the NHS’s capital budget.

There have also been commitments from the prime minister and the secretary of state to to solve the pension tax issue and reports a separate technology fund will be announced later in the week.
