Sir David Dalton: Advocate of closer health and care will be missed

- Sir David Dalton has announced he will retire as chief executive of Salford Royal Foundation Trust and Pennine Acute Hospital Trust.
- In a message shared with staff, Sir David Dalton announced he would be stepping down in March 2019.
- He tells staff that he hopes to continue to contribute to healthcare and to public service in some way.
Responding to the announcement that Sir David Dalton is to retire, the chief executive of NHS Providers, Chris Hopson said:
“Sir David Dalton is one the most respected chief executives within the provider sector. He has provided excellent and consistent leadership within the NHS over the last 20 years. He will be missed.
“He has been a passionate advocate of new ways of working and has been vocal about the need to bring health and care services together. He has also worked relentlessly to improve the quality of care and patient safety.
