Course overview

This course, delivered by NHS Providers Board development programme in partnership with the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), is for NHS risk practitioners. The course aims to help improve knowledge and understanding of what good risk management looks like and how, as risk professionals, risk practitioners can proactively support NHS trusts to be more strategic and outward looking in relation to risk.

This course consists of nine half day modules delivered over five full training days. The intention is to develop a peer learning network within the training cohort, and therefore it is expected that each course participant attends all modules as part of the training. By booking a place on to this course, the course participant is booking to attend each of the five days within the training.

The dates for this cohort are:

Day 1, Module 1 & 2: Tuesday 31 October 2023 (Full day, in-person event in London)

Day 2, Module 3 & 4: Tuesday 5 December 2023 (Full day, virtual via Zoom)

Day 3, Module 5 & 6: Tuesday 9 January 2024 (Full day, virtual via Zoom)

Day 4, Module 7 & 8: Tuesday 13 February 2024 (Full day, virtual via Zoom)

Day 5, Module 9 & Awarding of certificates: Tuesday 26 March 2024 (Full day, in-person event in London)

Upon successful completion of this course, course participants will receive a certificate awarded by the IRM. As part of the certification requirements, course participants will need to attend all training dates, and complete and submit all assignments set between training dates. For the assignments, course participants will be asked to take the learning from each module and apply it within their trust, keeping a learning journal of their activities and reflections. The learning journal will form part of the assessment process at the end of the course when granting certificate status.

Delegates will have access to online tutor support between the training days to provide them with a safe space to discuss topics related to the course or their trust’s ongoing risk matters.

I would just like to say a big Thank You to [the trainers] for such a fantastic first day, and of course NHS Providers and the Institute of Risk Management for developing fabulous content. I couldn't fault any part of the day! I am really looking forward to the next session.
