The current policy climate requires that all trusts look to make savings. Chris Hopson provides an overview of the current policy climate and the direction trusts should be heading. He explains why we should be looking to make efficiencies in the way services are delivered in order to support the future of health and care provision.

3.30pm Case study 1: Supporting a smooth way home – British Red Cross

The British Red Cross help people live independently, and as a result avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and delayed discharges. They work closely with partners to help people move more swiftly and safely though the care system. Their range of services provide a person‑centered approach to ensure all the practical and emotional needs of a person are met, to help them get back on their feet and live independently.

3.55pm Case study 2: Avoiding unnecessary agency fees – Locum’s Nest           

Locum’s Nest is a web and mobile app platform helping hospitals bypass agencies when hiring locum doctors, over the last 6 months, they have matched over 4,000 shifts, given hospitals access to 2,500 doctors, launched the NHS’ first truly collaborative Staff Bank and have already saved their partner hospitals over £250,000 to date.
