NHS Providers is the membership organisation and trade association for the NHS hospital, mental health, community and ambulance services that treat patients and service users in the NHS. We help those NHS foundation trusts and trusts to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care by enabling them to learn from each other, acting as their public voice and helping shape the system in which they operate.
NHS Providers has all trusts in membership, collectively accounting for £84bn of annual expenditure and employing more than one million staff.
This Policy advisor role will be responsible for leading our work to influence the national agenda on matters relating to quality of care, patient safety, quality improvement, clinical governance, and culture change to improve quality across all NHS provider sectors including acute hospitals, mental health services, community service providers, and ambulance services.
For this role, it is essential to have experience in handling complex issues, preparing high quality policy reports, acting as a respected external advocate for an organisation, and experience in influencing in health and care or a similarly complex environment. As an individual you must possess the following skills: excellent communication and relationship building, an ability to work under pressure and be able to prioritise, and an ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and to initiate policy development activity, within the bounds of the portfolio, which is of benefit to NHS trusts.
