Funding

The NHS faces an unprecedented funding challenge: while funding has only grown by around 1% annually in the last parliament and set to be the same in this parliament, patient numbers and treatment complexity continues to increase. This means that this decade represents the most challenging financial conditions for the NHS since its inception.

Due to this projections from NHS England suggest there could be a funding gap of £30 billion a year by 2021. NHS Providers supports members in understanding and meeting this challenge, as well as continuing to work to secure a fairer financial settlement for the sector.
