Locally driven change: selected case studies

This publication is a celebration of the locally-driven change that is already happening in the NHS. It is about change driven by NHS providers – foundation trusts and trusts providing acute, ambulance, community and mental health services – to improve services strategically across their local health economies.

We hope that it will provide insight and learning for other providers embarking on similar projects in their local areas, and at the same time highlight the positive changes NHS providers are making to meet the needs of the 21st century. While there are barriers such as financial risk, lack of capacity and variation in system coordination, this document also shows that overcoming these types of challenges can be done when providers are given the right tools to think and act innovatively
