New data protection regulation explained and its key changes
The general data protection regulation (GDPR) is a new EU law that will come into effect on 25 May 2018 to replace the current Data Protection Act. It will introduce new requirements for how organisations process personal data.
Providers will need to adopt a whole organisation approach, with a strategy agreed at board level. Volunteers including foundation trust governors are no different to employees; they must be trained and equipped to protect data.
