Welcome nomination of Lord Prior as next chair of NHS England

- Lord Prior of Brampton has been proposed by the Department of Health and Social Care as the next chair of NHS England
- The conservative peer will take over from Sir Malcolm Grant this autumn
- Lord Prior was previously a health minister under Jeremy Hunt
Responding to the proposal for Lord Prior to take over as the next chair of NHS England, the chair of NHS Providers, Dame Gill Morgan, said:
"We welcome this nomination.
"Lord Prior has a clear understanding of the needs of the provider sector and what it can deliver.
"We have worked closely and effectively with him in the past when he was chair of the Care Quality Commission, as a health minister and as chair at UCLH.
"We look forward to renewing that good working relationship, and wish him well."
