GovernWell: NHS finance and business skills module - Leeds

This one day specialist course will help governors learn more about the detail of a provider's finances and their business operations, through a range of interactive learning methods and shared experience.
The course looks at funding flows, analysing financial information and asking questions of the financial reports. We will explore the external factors influencing a provider's operations and how they might respond strategically - including making decisions on increasing non-NHS income and significant transactions, viewed specifically within the context of the governor role.

What will governors learn?
At the end of the day participants will have:
- a better understanding of financial flows in the NHS and the financial context in which foundation trusts operate
- an improved appreciation of income / expenditure, cost improvement plans, and possible strategies to support organisation health
- an understanding of the NHS as a "business" and considered the role of competition
- a better understanding of the governor role in mergers and acquisitions.
Courses will generally run from 9.00am to 4.30pm and will take place at venues in city centres with easy access from a main train station. Further details will be circulated in the joining instructions two weeks prior to the event date.
What does it cost?
The specialist skills modules cost £220 +VAT per delegate (£187 with group booking discount).
